10 Reasons why memorize Pi should be your New Years Resolution

Everyone knows Pi is 22/7, some call it 3.14, some even call it 43,000 digits long. It’s been made into a movie and there is a book on it too!

I got wondering why and reached 10 reasons why it’s good to memorize, and why you should start in the new year too! (I’ll give you a hint, it’s great self-development!)

1) It increase memory retention
2) It develops focus and concentration
3) It allows a greater understanding of the concept of infinity
4) Repetition is relaxing to the mind
5) A cool party trick is to recite Pi to over 50 places
6) It’s an ice breaker, and a sure fire way to win a lady
7) Exercising your mind keeps it sharp
8) The world record holder calls it a form of meditation
9) It raises the concept precision-measurement(no unit is ever absolutely precise, there’s always rounding/errors/concessions. EG 1 inch is never EXACTLY 1 inch to the nano)
10)It allows you to see chaos in order and order in chaos (over 5million digits in pi and still going)

In short, it’s all over good for you!

I thought 22/7 was only an approximation to pi? I guess that’s not really the point, but I thought I’d mention it.

I look forward to seeing you trying to impress a lady by reciting it though.

Actually Pi is infinitely long, so you can’t truly memorize all of it. I was once able to recite pi, form memory, to the 100th decimal place. This did give me confidence in my memory and the motivation to learn other memory tricks. (I know the original post was made months ago, but what the hay.)
