If you get Angry often, you develop a habit of Anger. Negative emotions and habits, are like thieves of happiness; they should be caught and stopped as quickly as possible.
The key to catching a thief is to spot him. In our mind, we use the spotlight of mindfulness to illuminate Anger, and it’s causes. When becoming mindful of Anger, we see what the thief is after, blocking him before he gets in, or if he breaks in, he’s quickly found. We begin to clearly see who and what is going on in our house called mind, and nothing more needs to be done. Thieves don’t hang around when a light is switched on; they flee.
Turning on the spotlight of mindfulness has benefits in the moment, as well as positive karmic qualities. By developing mindfulness, your mind removes logs from a fire. On this fire sits a great pot filled with negative emotions, like Anger. As the logs are pulled from the fire, the heat drops, and negative qualities that rely upon heat, like Anger, are unable to manifest.
Develop your mindfulness, your ability to shine, and extinguish the fire of Anger. (photo)

“Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal to throw at your enemy. You are the one that gets burned”.
I’m fairly sure that (or a saying very similar to it) is a Buddha quote. I thought it quite apt for this entry.
That’s the quote ;). Thank you Marcus.
