The Three Poisons of Greed, Anger, and Delusion are the source of all illusions and desires. These poisons keep us one step away from happiness, always moving us away from reality. What is the common root of all three poisons, and how can we transform them into happiness?
The Self is the common root, and when we begin to see our mind, as it really is, the Self is illuminated. It’s this illumination that without effort, transforms the three poisons into the three positive qualities, and lasting happiness.
The Transformation
The hunger of Greed, when the Self is seen, becomes hunger of The World’s Greed. The Greed is converted into a natural thirst to get the best for the entire world.
Anger, when the Self is seen, becomes wise. Anger is converted into understanding and Wisdom. We no longer find a reason to be angry, we understand that things are the way they are, and that they are not happening to a Self.
Delusion, when the Self is seen, becomes equanimous. No longer are there false ideas, instead right thought is operating. There is a constant balance, as reality is seen as it is.
The Pillars for Happiness
The antidote for the Three Poisons is known as the Three Pillars, which are “Precepts, Deep Concentration, and Wisdom”. They are the guidelines to our lives. When we practice the “three pillars”, we’ll be walking further away from the “three poisons”. As we continue to practice, we live our, in each every moment our enlightenment, and our happiness. The results of practice are the actual, as life manifests, it is with this slow steady set of steps that we grow into life, and we grow happy. (photo)

Deep concentration is the pillar that I need to work on the most. Thanks for making it so easy to grasp. I seem to get lost in too many projects and don’t keep my focus. I appreciate the reminder.
