There is only two takes on reality/life and the difference is the difference in creating your own reality or living as a slave.
Life happens to me OR
I make life happen.
The difference between these two is the difference from living life, getting what you want, and getting life’s leftovers. No one else makes your life happen; only you do. When you accept this fact, you are then able to create the reality/life you want. Imagine you are the captain of S.S. Life.
S.S. Life is cruising through the ocean, with the bow constantly parting the water as it sails through. Behind you is your wake. You decide where this ship goes by looking ahead, reading maps, and picking the path. As captain you wouldn’t think of looking at the ship’s wake to decide your future; it seems crazy. Now imagine that you ARE the ship S.S. Life. That’s reality; YOU are S.S. Life. You decide where you want to go, not your past.
When “life happens to you”, you look at your wake and create stories about why you can not do something. As we’ve seen above, the past does not write the present, the present creates the past. You pick the path of your life, and this becomes your story. If you want to do something, don’t look at the past, look ahead, plan your path out, and think about it. Ships have to travel distances to reach their destination; they do not just arrive. In this same way it takes time for your thoughts (to) become things; you will get there.
Do not tell yourself stories about why you can not do something, instead plan and make it happen. In each moment, you have the ability to decide what happens in the moment after. Accept that you are in control of your life, that your actions have brought you to where you are. If you don’t like where you are, don’t say “oh well”, make it better. No one else can make your life better for you. You, and only you can make the reality that you want. Becoming captain of S.S. Life, guide your ship where you want to take it.

I coudn’t agree more. I like to picture the conscious as the Captain of a ship called life. Each of us directs life a the direction or another. If you feel like life “happens” to you, you are simply taking a direction by default. You are still directing your life, but the direction appears erratic because you are not giving clear orders to the crew. Take charge, and make choices. You will get anywere you want.
Nice blog. Keep up the good work!
